[Spoilers] OVERLORD Volume 16
NOTE: I would like to imply first that some of the spoilers I'm about to share is still unconfirmed and can be revoked anytime, but of course, we will make sure to change some inaccurate details and add new ones later, you can take this spoilers with a grain of salt.
TITLE: The Half Wood Elf God-kin (Part 2)

SHORT SUMMARY:

- The volume starts with the big feast that the dark elves prepared for both Ainz and Mare
- Upon entering the village, Ainz used illusion magic in order to enter the village as a human, he is wearing a mask
- Ainz who blended in the village, has given the dark elves a purple potion
- Ainz uses a fake name and introduces himself as Ain Belle Fiore
- It is revealed that Nfirea and his grandmother has successfully created a red potion, it is also mentioned that they developed some herbs and solutions and sells it for a living
- During the big feast, both Aura and Mare who is wearing a different attire is seen to be playing house with some dark elf kids, they have flowers in their heads
- More spoilers from this part will be shared later, for now we will jump on the elf country royal capital
- Back to the Elf Country's Royal Capital, it seems that the invasion of the Slane Theocracy has progressed further and is pushing the wood elves into a corner,
- Ainz observing the invasion, mentions that he doesn't plan to save the elves but instead he plans take to advantage of the chaos and steal the treasures hidden in the Royal Palace
- Along with the twins, Ainz infiltrates the royal palace using [Perfect Unknowable] and saw that throne room is filled with dirt, and as they're about to enter the Treasury, the elf king, Decem teleports back in the place
- Decem then saw the twins, he can't see Ainz. He then approaches the twins and saw their heterochromia eyes and talks with them, as he talks with them, Ainz started to use buff spells and is gauging Dechem's HP and MP
- During the conversation, Decem thought that the twins before him was his grandchildren and has decided to impregnate Aura, he later also finds out that Mare is a boy
- As he was about to approach the two, Ainz loses his composure and punches Decem in the face while shouting: "You degenerate of a pedophile, how dare you have such disgusting desires towards the children in my care. Die" and thus, it deactivated his [Perfect Unknowable] spell
- Decem flew a little bit, and surprised by the sudden appearance of the undead, he asked Ainz what is he, to which Ainz answered that he is an undead guardian summoned through the twins and their parent
- Decem then activates his ring, the dirt in the whole place started to form into of an Primal Earth Elemental, but apparently he just calls it as [Behemoth]
- Ainz then uses [Wall of Skeleton] and a Mist-like spell, irritated by how his opponent responded, Decem casts several attack spells and activates a 10th-Tier druid defensive spell called [Mercy of the Sal Tree]
- As Decem continues to cast spells one after another, Ainz goes on the defensive, later on, he saw that Dechem's MP has depleted enough already
- Ainz then goes on the offensive, having activated a triplet maximize magic buff, he casts several Magic Arrows and Cacophonous Bursts on the Earth Elemental and has finished it off, he remarks that it's quite tough and bulky
- Ainz then proceeds to use [Reality Slash] on Decem, which almost killed him, Ainz then casts [Time Stop] and told him to surrender
- Fatally injured by Ainz's attack, Decem realizes the power difference between them and runs away out of panic in fear for his life,
- Ainz thought that he was careless and should've finished him with [The Goal of All Life is Death]
- Ainz then estimates the Elf King to be Lvl. 70, not wanting to let him escape, Ainz orders Mare to go after him and catch Decem
- Dechem who has gone back in the royal palace encounters Zesshi who is equipped with a white armor with yellow marks, upon seeing his miserable look, Zesshi mocks Decem and proceeds to attack
- It is revealed that her real name is Antilene Heran Fouche, known as Zesshi Zetsumei
- Antilene then attacks Decem with her scythe, he fell down and a pool of blood spurts from his body, and as before he croaks, he warns Antilene that there is someone extremely strong on the outside with two companions
- More details about Ainz vs Decem and Antilene Killing Decem will be added later
- As his breath fades, Mare comes in, he is seen to be wearing a green armor with his belly open, it is revealed to be one of the armors that Bukubukuchagama gave him
- Antilene realizes that Mare must be the one that Dechem is talking about, she thought that Mare is a girl and is quite confused why he's equipped with such a revealing armor and thought that it's maybe a trap
- With her speed, She jumps unto Mare and swings her scythe, but Mare saw through it easily and deflects it with his wooden staff, it is revealed that the scythe she wields is from one of the six great gods, Surshana
- Antilene wasn't surprised that Mare can see through her attack, what surprised her is that he didn't even bulged at all or backs off after her attack, she thought that Mare must've been a warrior
- But as a dark elf and due to his appearance, she also thought that he must've been a druid or a cleric
- Mare then used a spell called [Power of the Divine Mother Earth], seeing him cast this spell, Antilene was so surprised and got even more confused on what his profession really is.
- She then uses a spell from her class Heretic Inquisitor, a spell that renders her opponent to consume more mana than they should have.
- Mare then casted another spell called [Spirit Form - Earth], seeing that he cast another unfamiliar spell, she activates another spell, a spell that renders her opponent's ability to fail
- Antilene then thought that she should finish this asap and go for the kill, or else Mare's companions might come sooner or later
- Mare then apologizes to her and raises his staff to attack her, Antilene decides to parry the attack with her scythe, and as she receives it, she felt that the attack was really so heavy
- Gritting her teeth, she mustered all her strength to push the staff away, she then saw an opportunity and used several Martial Arts skills to attack Mare's open belly
- With her being speed and power enhanced, she hits Mare's belly, and as she expected, Mare's skin was really hard, she couldn't believe that it was a skin, but she manages to pierce through that hard skin
- Being able to hit him, she had a joyful expression but suddenly turned into a serious one, as she realized that her attack didn't pierced through the gut
- As she wonders over this, Mare strikes her with his staff, she then used a martial arts to evade but, but before she was able to fully evade, the staff grazed her head
- She used another martial arts skill to decrease the pain and distance herself from Mare, and as she jumps off him, she attempts to damage him
- But even with her using a martial art skill, she still felt an intense pain and blood runs down on her face
- The attack that Mare inflicted to her was so powerful that she could barely stand and it's been awhile since she received such attack
- It is then revealed that the white armor she's equipped with is an armor from one of the six great gods, the god of wind
- Antilene keeps her distance and then used a healing spell, as she looks at Mare, her eyes widened upon seeing that his belly wasn't bleeding at all even after her attack
- Although she notices that Mare received damage and felt a bit of a pain, Mare proceeds to take out a 6th Tier scroll that consists [Great Healing]
- Antilene was surprised by that such a spell scroll exists and complains by how more hurt she is than him, she thought that the armor was really probably a trap and guessed that a critical hit nullification was casted on Mare's belly
- She complains and thought that the one who created the armor must've such a wicked sense of humor, she wants to scratch her head but held herself back from doing so
- Antilene then thought that Mare must've more scrolls to use [Great Healing] so she decides to try various things first before she uses her trump cards
- Antilene uses Martial Arts skills again and hits Mare's right hand, upon hitting it, she thought that it was really so hard. Mare then uses his staff to hit Zesshi, she tries to evade but Mare's staff reached her shoulder
- But while she received the hit, she was able to use several martial arts, so she was able to tough it out despite the pain
- Antilene grits her teeth, thinking that her opponent chooses to fight in a way where he attacks in tandem of her attacks.
- Antilene then wonders if Mare is a tank-type but she also thought that is contradicting due to Mare's powerful attack strength
- Her suspicion that Mare must be on the Sorcerer King's side deepens.
- As she gaze over Mare, she recollects the things she observed during their whole exchange, and she came into a conclusion that she's at a huge disadvantage
- She thought that she should maybe use "that" and gazed over her scythe, it is revealed to be a weapon named [Guidance of Charon] and is owned by Surshana
- As she gazes over the scythe, the undead spells that she can cast through it was revealed: [Death] [Flame of Undeath] [Dispel of Undead] [Undead Creation] [Disease] [Deep Sleep for the Undead] [Evil Sight] [Dead Face] [Hands of Glory]
- It is also mentioned that the undead she could create are called "Spartan Warriors" which have the same abilities with 5th-Tier Skeleton Warriors
- She came into a conclusion that it's too early to use her trump card as her opponent haven't used their own yet
- As she ponders over this, Mare asked her if she's not coming, hearing him say that pissed her off a little and decides to attack him once again
- She uses some martial arts skills again to send flying slash attacks, and as it goes straight towards him, Mare moves forward and received the attack, it slightly damaged him, but consequently he hits her with his staff once again
- She was barely able to dodged it, and to make it look like she's seen through his attack, she made a grin enough for Mare to hear but she wasn't sure if it affected him
- She then retreats backward, but Mare also moves forward, then she summoned [Spartan Warriors] to attack him
- Mare then hits one spartan and it disappears, taking advantage of this distraction, Zesshi jumps off to get on behind him
- But as she do this, Mare lowers his body and stomps on the ground, and it exploded, afterwards Mare jumps on the rear
- Antilene then thought that Mare probably did that in order not to be attacked both by her and the Spartan Warriors, even despite of it not being able to damage him
- Looking at how Mare lands on the ground after jumping away, Antilene thought that he must've been not used to his strength or is not accustomed to fighting
- Antilene with the spartan warriors on her side rushed towards Mare, but before they get near, Mare took a scroll and casted [Firestorm] against her
- The flames wrapped around her but it also disappeared instantly, though she received wounds due to it.
- But she continues to move forward and tries to hit him with her scythe, it stroked the armor but she thought that she didn't have enough damage with that attack, the spartan warriors thrust as well, but Mare's staff swept away all the spears.
- Taking advantage of the distraction, Antilene spins around and gets into a spider-like positions and hits his armor's feet, but it was hard as well
- But damaging him wasn't just her intention but it's also to make him lose balance, but as she tries to push him through the scythe, she felt that it was heavy and is not moving at all
- She then gave it all she has, but found herself losing balance instead, Mare who saw this opportunity strikes her with his staff and inside her head, she commands the spartan warriors
- The spartan warrior pushed her away and got hit instead, and as she balance herself again, she saw Mare killing the spartans
- Gazing over Mare, she thought that she should try something first, so she slowly approaches Mare, and as their distance closes, she jumps on and fakes it trying to hit his left hand but will actually hit his neck instead as it wasn't covered in armor
- But as she's about to hit his neck, she suddenly received a hard hit from his staff again, which made her yell out due to how the painful it is
- She gaze over his neck and saw a small bruise but no blood coming out, so Antilene thought if he's a living thing or is probably an undead created by the Sorcerer King
- But suddenly, Mare gives him an offer, he told her that if she surrenders, then she will have no more pain and her safety will be ensured, but as she heard this, she felt disgusted
- Having not felt any hostility and bloodlust even during their exchange of hits, she thought that his thoughts might not be gentle, and she doesn't felt the slightest bit of emotion from him, which made her think that he's probably an undead in disguise
- Antilene who's about to say that her surrendering is possible, stopped herself and thought if she could defeat the girl before him, she thought that Mare only started talking because he's trying to buy time
Note: As I mentioned earlier, during their encounter, Zesshi/Antilene thought that Mare is a girl / a maiden
- Antilene closes the distance again and tries to attack with her martial arts skills, but Mare blocked it with his staff, hitting it, her hands
felt some vibration and numbness
- Mare then swings his staff and attempts to hit her but Antilene dodges it
- Seeing that they're on a standstill, she thought that she should use her trump cards, but she's having a hard time pondering over what card to use, as she can't just use them casually and that using them earlier will be troublesome since Mare's companions might be as strong as him
- As she ponders over what to do, she's also slashing him with her scythe, while Mare is defending with his staff.
- After recollecting all that she observed thus far, she decides to use one of her trump cards, but she wonders when she should use it, and as she hits his body, Mare hits her in the stomach, she felt an intense pain from the inside and out of her body and flew away
- Even so, she stood firm, and decides to use her trump card now, she removes her helmet and gave him a mocking smirks, Mare didn't approached her, so she asked him if he is an undead created by the Sorcerer King
- Surprised by her question, Mare instead asked her if she doesn't care about the benefits she will have as a subordinate if she surrenders
- But Antilene insists on hearing his answer, so Mare answers that he is not an undead. Confused by how he answered, Antilene brushes all the thought off
- She puts her helmet back and casts a spell that she can use through her talent, a talent that enables her to use the strongest spell of the god of death, Surshana, with the scythe being the catalyst of it.
- Antilene/Zesshi uses [The Goal of All Life is Death] a clock emerges from her back, seeing this made Mare sincerely shocked that he can't help but make a sound
- Seeing his reaction, Antilene realizes that he's not really an undead, and thought that he's like this because he's unfamiliar with the spell and says to wait for the surprise
- As she activates the spell, she chose [Death] to instantly kill him
- Sure of her victory, she suddenly saw Mare using a spell called [Flames of Phoenix] she thought that even if he used a spell, it will be ineffective against her powerful spell
- She then mentions that for the spell to finish casting, she has to wait 12 seconds, and during her wait, she makes sure that she's defending herself from any attacks.
- As the ticking clock reaches 12 seconds, in her heart, she gave farewell to her opponent who is swinging his staff against her, but suddenly, she noticed that something weird just happened.
- The girl before her, didn't died. Her mind turned blank, she tries to count two seconds, but nothing has happened, her opponent is still alive.
- Antilene became more confused, she wonders if the spell is ineffective against dark elves, or maybe because Mare is her relative or probably because the spell he used earlier helped resist it
- She's confused as to why he was able to resist it, she wonders why he seem to be familiar with the spell that he's able to easily resist it's effects.
- Pondering over her confusion, she received a solid hit from Mare, enduring the pain, she stopped thinking and thrusts her scythe to Mare, but as she did this, Mare has consequently hits her back with his staff
- She stood as to keep herself from body collapsing, realizing that there's no other options to use, she thought to use her other trump card
- She's a little reluctant to use it, since she has no Intel over her opponent, she's unsure if he has more scrolls or spells to use.
- Concluding that it's useless to frown over revealing another trump card with lack of info, so she finally used it, and a white Antilene/Zesshi appeared besides her
- It was another of her trump card, the Einherjhar, a spell she was able to learn due to her developing the {Valkyrie Class}
- Seeing the spell, Mare is once again surprised, just like his reaction with the previous spell of [Goal of All is Death], It's as if the previous scene repeated, Antilene got a bad feeling about this.
- As Antilene is about to give it an order, Mare took out a sphere and summons an Earth Elemental, making her more even confused as to what his class-job really is.
- Deciding how to fight him and the earth elemental, she decides to confront the elemental first, with her and the Einherjhar slashing the earth elemental, it suddenly disappeared
- Antilene knew that it wasn't defeated, and suddenly, it appeared once again but it looks different and is bigger than before
- She thought that she can defeat the earth elemental, but also wonders if it's wise to spend the time fighting it like this. She thought that it's probably getting stronger in every hit that it takes
- Standing by a little far from her opponents, Antilene glances over Mare, she saw him having a timid expression, just like during their encounter earlier.
- She wonders who on the world is Mare, she thought that it makes sense if Ainz created him, but if he's just an average dark elf, then why she never heard of him?
- She thought that Mare must be someone like the Sorcerer King, someone who appeared out of nowhere in the continent, but also brushes the thought off and thinking that he may have been Decem's daughter
- She thought that the Sorcerer Kingdom probably came in the country with the intention of acquiring Mare. But she can't confirm anything at all, Mare having any relationship with Ainz is just her assumption
- She then ponders that if Mare really came from the Sorcerer Kingdom, and just like Decem mentioned that he's not alone, then that must mean that Ainz himself is here?
- Antilene/Zesshi feels even more anxious, she felt that it was foolish of her not to consider this connection, as this situation was supposed to be impossible in norms
- Normally, a ruler shouldn't come to the battlefield without guards, but since she knew that Ainz is someone who came into the battlefield just like in the Holy Kingdom, without any bodyguards and has successfully made achievements, she knew that he can appear anywhere & anytime
- And it's also mentioned that she knows that Ainz made a surprise appearance in the Empire's Arena, which made it more possible that he probably came here in the elf country as well
- She thought that if Ainz were to ally with the dark elf girl she's fighting, then her chances of winning is zero, but she thought that if Ainz arrives, she can try negotiating with him
- With her seeing that Mare has heterochromia, a proof of royal lineage, she thought that Mare might take over the country and force the Theocracy to back off
- And with them backing off, the public's opinion will be destabilize, seeming like that it's a perfect opportunity, but as she thinks over the word "opportunity", her anxiety grew stronger
- She thought that the main reason of the Sorcerer Kingdom in destroying the Re-Estize Kingdom was to make the Theocracy ramp up their war with the elves and deal a deadly blow against the Theocracy, pondering over this, Antilene trembles for the first time in her life
- She ponders over the whole course of events, from the Re-Estize Kingdom into the current situation, and came into a conclusion that everything ever since then has been going on as planned by the Sorcerer Kingdom, she thought of how is such a thing possible.
- Thinking that the plan must've been made by Ainz himself, she thought that it's not the Sorcerer King's powerful spell nor his powerful subordinates that makes him a true horror, but it's his ability to see through the moves of his enemy and to manipulate them through an invisible string.

- Zesshi/Antilene vs Mare ends with Mare winning and knocking her out
- Ainz and Aura arrives, Mare tells him that he just fought this woman, Mare also mentions that Antilene seems to have witnessed Ainz battle with Shalltear
- But with Ainz being wary, he decides to continue this discussion further later on, and tells them to bring this girl to Nazarick first.
- Mare remarks to Ainz that she's strong, so if she were to be brought to Neuronist and wakes up, she might suddenly rampage around.
- so Ainz commands Aura to bring her to Nazarick herself and make sure that she doesn't do anything and gets chained up
- Aura carrying the unconscious Antilene, teleports back to Nazarick
- Ainz then asked Mare of why he thinks that Zesshi had seen his fight with Shalltear, Mare replies that she just used [The Goal of All Life is Death] and [Einherjhar] hearing this, has surprised Ainz
- More details about this conversation will be shared later on, as we have inefficient info
- With Ainz and Mare teleporting back to Nazarick, they instantly went to the Frozen Prison where Antilene is being held up
- Ainz uses a spell and looks through her memories and knowledge
- During that, he discovered that the culprit behind Shalltear's brainwashing incident was the Slaine Theocracy
- Ainz became so angry with this discovery, to the point that he rampages around and is kicking on the things around him
- Ainz commands albedo to cease all the affairs that everyone in Nazarick is working on, except the work on defending the tomb.
- Ainz then mentions that they're about to wage a full-scale war against the Theocracy, as this was a war that they have started.

- The volume ends with Ainz sending Pandora's Actor to scout the Elf Country's Royal Castle
